European Go Cultural Center

Foundation

The European Go Cultural Centre (EGCC) is a non-profit organization with the aim of spreading Go in Europe and informing the public in Europe about the existence, background and rules of the ancient game of Go. We work closely with the European Go Federation. In cooperation with national associations we have developed and produced promotion and teaching material, which is available in seventeen European languages. The building where the EGCC is situated is owned by the Nihon Ki-in and loaned to the Foundation Nihon Ki-in European Go Cultural Centre to be used as a place to play Go.

The object of the Nihon Ki-in Foundation European Go Cultural Centre is:

  1. to distribute and promote the game of Go within Europe
  2. to inform the general public in Europe about the existance, background and rules of the ancient game of Go
  3. to promote good relations between Go players all around the world
  4. to establish and maintain an independent European Go Centre
  5. generally, to operate on a non-profit basis one or more accommodations for practising the Go game on a European level
  6. furthermore to develop social and cultural activities

The foundation is managed by a board consisting of four members. At the moment the board is formed by:

  • Mr. A. Maas
  • Mr. R. Kok

Advisor to the board:

  • Mr. G. van Toorenburg

The staff of the EGCC consists of:

  • William Wandel (General Manager)
  • Harry van der Krogt (Finance Manager)
